Visiting a church for the first time can feel a little intimidating. You may wonder where to go, what to wear, what the service will be like, or whether you will feel out of place. We understand that, and we want to make your first visit as simple and comfortable as possible.
At Dell Dale Avenue Baptist Church, you will find a traditional church family that loves the Lord, values His Word, and still believes there is something beautiful about gathering together to worship, pray, sing the old hymns of the faith, and open the Bible.
You do not have to have everything figured out before you come. Whether you have been in church your whole life, have been away for a while, or are just beginning to ask questions about faith, you are welcome here.
Below are a few common questions that may help you know what to expect when you visit.
What should I expect when I visit?
When you visit Dell Dale Avenue Baptist Church, you can expect a warm, traditional church service centered around Scripture, prayer, and worship. We sing hymns, open the Bible together, and seek to honor Christ in a way that is reverent, sincere, and understandable.
What time are your services?
Our Sunday morning Bible Study begins at 9:30 AM, we call them shared life groups, followed by Morning Worship at 10:45 AM. We also meet for Sunday Evening Worship/Bible Study at 4:00 PM and Wednesday Night Bible Study at 6:15 PM.
What should I wear?
Most people dress somewhere between casual and traditional church attire. Some wear jeans, some wear dresses or button-up shirts, and some dress more formally. You do not need to dress a certain way to come worship with us. We care much more about you being here than what you are wearing.
What is the worship style like?
Our worship is traditional. We still love to sing the old hymns of the faith, and our services are shaped by Scripture, prayer, and the preaching of God’s Word. Our goal is not to put on a show, but to worship the Lord together as a church family.
What kind of preaching can I expect?
You can expect preaching that is centered on the Bible. We believe Scripture is God’s Word, and we want to understand what it says, why it matters, and how it points us to Jesus Christ. Sermons are usually focused on explaining and applying the text of Scripture in a clear and faithful way.
Do you have Bible study classes?
Yes. We have Sunday morning Bible Study at 9:30 AM. These groups are a good way to get to know people, ask questions, and grow in your understanding of Scripture. We call them Shared Life Groups because we believe church is about more than shared faith, it is about shared lives.
Do you have something for children?
Children are always welcome in our services. We believe families should feel comfortable worshiping together. Depending on the service and current volunteers, children’s ministry options may vary, so feel free to contact us before your visit if you have specific questions. But on a Sunday morning there is something for your young children during each of our scheduled meeting times.
Will someone help me know where to go?
Yes. When you arrive, someone will be glad to help you find the sanctuary, restrooms, Bible study rooms, or anything else you need. We know visiting a church for the first time can feel intimidating, and we want to make it as simple as possible.
Do I have to be a member to attend?
No. You are welcome to visit, attend worship, and join us for Bible study even if you are not a member. Membership is a great next step when you feel comfortable, but you do not have to have everything figured out before you come.
What kind of church is Dell Dale Avenue Baptist Church?
We are a traditional Baptist church that believes the Bible is the Word of God, Jesus Christ is the only Savior, and the church is meant to be a family. We are rooted in the faith handed down through generations, but we also believe the Gospel speaks clearly to life today.
What if I have questions about faith, the Bible, or church?
Questions are welcome. You do not have to pretend to know everything before you come. Whether you are new to church, returning after a long time away, or simply trying to understand Christianity more clearly, we would be glad to talk with you. Our pastor loves these kind of things!
How do I get connected?
The easiest way to get connected is to join us for worship on Sunday morning or attend one of our Bible study times. You can also reach out through our office email or phone number, and someone will be glad to help you take the next step.
