What we Believe
The short version: The Bible

At Dell Dale Avenue Baptist Church, our faith is centered on Jesus Christ and grounded in the Word of God. We believe the Bible is not merely a religious book or a collection of helpful teachings, but the inspired Word of God and the final authority for what we believe and how we live. When it doubt we are going to agree to agree with scripture.

We are a Baptist church rooted in the historic Christian faith. We believe in one God who eternally exists as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. God is holy, righteous, gracious, and good. He created all things, sustains all things, and is working out His purposes in the world.

We believe Jesus Christ is the Son of God, fully God and fully man. He was born of the virgin Mary, lived a sinless life, died on the cross for our sins, was buried, and rose again on the third day. Through His death and resurrection, Jesus has made the way for sinners to be forgiven, reconciled to God, and given eternal life.

We believe every person is created in the image of God and has great value and dignity. We also believe that all people have sinned and are in need of salvation. Sin separates us from God, and we cannot save ourselves by good works, religious effort, or personal morality.

We believe salvation is by grace alone through faith in Jesus Christ. A person is saved by turning from sin and trusting in Jesus as Savior and Lord. Salvation is not something we earn; it is the gift of God made possible through the finished work of Christ but requires the commitment of our lives to Jesus as Lord.

We believe the Holy Spirit convicts people of sin, brings new life to those who believe, and helps Christians grow in faith, obedience, and holiness. The Christian life is not about trying to impress God, but about walking with Him, surrendering to Him, and being shaped more and more into the image of Christ.

We believe the church is the family of God. The church is not just a building, an event, or an organization. It is a people called together by Christ to worship, grow, serve, pray, encourage one another, and make disciples. We believe every believer has a place in the body of Christ and a calling to serve.

We believe baptism is an outward sign of an inward faith. Baptism does not save a person, but it is an act of obedience that publicly identifies a believer with the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. As Baptists, we practice believer’s baptism by immersion.

We believe the Lord’s Supper is a meaningful act of worship and remembrance. When we take the bread and the cup, we remember the sacrifice of Jesus, proclaim His death, and look forward to His return.

We believe Jesus Christ will come again. Until that day, the church is called to remain faithful, to proclaim the Gospel, to love God and neighbor, and to live as a witness to the hope found only in Christ.

At the center of all we believe is this simple truth: Jesus saves. Our desire is to know Him, follow Him, worship Him, and make Him known.
